Hey! I am Back!!

Well I supposed you might be surprised to hear from me after nearly one year’s absence from the internet.

A lot has happened during this time….

Firstly, I had hard drive failures – luckily I backed up my data. I have learnt the hard way. In the past, data has been lost without me backing up my data. No doubt, some of you will be nodding your heads because you have been down the same path.

Secondly, I have reset my goals for this year. Some are short term while others are longer term. Happily I can say that some have been achieved already! Hooray!

Thirdly, life just gets in the way. It is easy to lose focus and drift off into other directions. I can’t believe that it is already May – 4 months of this year have passed by so quickly!

At this stage in my time on this Earth I have realised that there is more to life. My job activities have been constant and increasingly frustrating. I have come to a point that I want to run an online business from home (mm.. I think I have said this before somewhere…).

My online business needs to initially replace my current income and then surpass it.  No doubt many of you want to achieve the same thing or something similar. I’ve given myself a timeframe within which to achieve this.

So, my goals for this blog for the remainder of 2011 are:

  • Post once a week to this blog
  • Give reviews
    • of products that I have purchased and used
    • on books I have read
    • on interviews I have listened to and found useful
  • Comment on my progress and thoughts as I continue through John Thornhill’s Masterclass course. Yes I am definitely going to get back on track.. :)

At the end of the year I will revisit my goals for this blog to see how I fared.

See you next time.

A Sad Farewell

About a week ago I bought a new car. Only had 15km on the clock! Nice, shiny red. However, I had to say goodbye to my car I was trading in. She had been with me since new 14 years old and had 260 000km on the clock.

I am slowly getting used to the new car. :)

Cheers

Setting Goals

A few of questions…

Have you set goals in the past?

Do you set goals now?

Do you follow through with your process in achieving your goals or do you have a ‘set and forget’ system in place?

I have done all of the above.

Over the last few years I have developed the following system which I would like to share with you…

Firstly, I make a list on paper the things I want to achieve in my life. I look at all areas: financial, personal etc.

Then this list is grouped into timeframes, how long I think it would take to achieve each goal. The timeframes are 1 year or less, 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years.

The next step is I now write each goal on a separate piece of paper, with its timeframe, steps to achieve the goal and a picture to keep me excited and motivated.

These sheets of paper are then placed in a loose leaf book with the shortest time frame first, then the next and so on until all the sheets have been inserted.

I review my goals monthly.

I would love to hear your ideas on the process you use.

See you next time.

Janice.
